Man Utd Boss Ruben Amorim Confesses He Can't Escape Underwhelming Record

Man Utd manager under pressure during latest game

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim endures the strain during their 3-1 loss at Brentford

Man Utd manager Ruben Amorim confesses he is unable to conceal from his disappointing performance and believes it is expected that club legends are commenting on him.

Earlier this week, United's all-time goalscorer Wayne Rooney told his podcast that "the spirit has disappeared" from his former club.

Amorim has managed just 18 wins from his forty-nine games in control, featuring nine out of 33 in the Premier League, where he has still to achieve back-to-back consecutive victories.

Although high-level club sources are adamant that the club owner is still supportive the manager, failure to overcome newly promoted their next opponents on Saturday will spark renewed discussion about his role heading into the upcoming fortnight international break.

"It is expected," said the Portuguese coach, when questioned about Rooney's remarks. "One cannot escape from the outcomes."

"Then you have the baggage from the previous campaign, [although] last season for me doesn't matter."

Supporter Response and Present Situation

United's fans stayed behind Amorim following last season's dismal fare, when they ended up fifteenth in the table - their lowest finish since the 1973-74 demotion season - and were beaten in the Europa League showpiece, in the expectation that the current campaign would be considerably better.

The manager promised supporters the circumstances would improve because he had additional opportunity to prepare with his players without the midweek distraction of European competition.

That is not been how the opening six fixtures have unfolded as United have experienced three defeats so far and are currently fourteenth in the standings.

Manager's Reaction to Concerns

When questioned what promises he could provide supporters that the situation will get better, the manager stated: "It's not the moment to talk, it is the time to demonstrate."

"Personally analyze the games this season and, for me, they are completely distinct, but I have nothing to comment at the current time."

  • Man Utd presently occupy the fourteenth place in the Premier League
  • Amorim has won just 18 of his forty-nine matches in charge
  • The former striker recently questioned the club's current situation
  • The upcoming match against Sunderland is important for Amorim's position
